Caucus Stop: Lustful and/or Delightful

This blog is about the weird and unexpected things that happen on the campaign 

The news was this morning that Trump handed out pizza and signed a woman’s breast (more accurately, a tank top). 




That’s it. 

That’s the post. 

Now, according to YouTube comments (of which there were at least 60k views), it was the owner’s daughter. 

It was certainly consensual between adults. 

 I was hoping it was a place that I had been, but it wasn’t (and finding the name took a little doing) - Treehouse Pub and Eatery in Bettendorf 

Anyway, this was covered by everyone (Guardian, Fox, BBC, Daily Mail) with the reporting on expected lines (BoingBoing called him “lustful”, Conservative outlets said “he delighted fans”) 

In accordance with the old indecency laws, I probably should provide some meaningful content, so I will offer this:

The Iowa Caucus Postmortem

The Iowa caucus is a weird thing, no doubt.  The 2020 Democratic Iowa Caucus is considered a mess. It should be noted that the Democrat caucus was a ranked choice vote that added a wrinkle in the process and with so many candidates that year was probably never going to do smooth. The Caucus is weird though. I defend it on the basis that if forces politicians to interact with the public. That’s important.  I do think maybe there is something about viability from it on the Democratic side (Iowa loved Obama and disliked Hillary which both seem prescient) but on the Republican side the nation is out of step with Iowa (Huckabee, Santorum, Cruz). The idea of the caucus is to discuss politics with like minded neighbors and I think many have experienced that.  Here’s the thing though and I won’t say it’s not weird. It’s a physical act. Caucus Bytes: The Return of Da Vek

I always like to write about the Iowa Caucuses and specifically, the wonderfully weird events that come out of them.  In lieu of longform blogging, I am going to share periodical bits that I will call Caucus Bytes.   And there is no better spot to start this election cycle than Vivek Ramaswamy.  In a Republican race that is seemingly still open to three or four front runners, Ramaswamy is finding a slot. I read an article this June in Politico that talked about his interest in Eminem  “I saw myself, honestly, making it big through American capitalism, and that’s why the Eminem story spoke to me,” Ramaswamy, now 37 years old, said in an interview. A friend, who watched him rap at some point in his twenties, provided footage of it.  Which of course, we all love music, but it doesn’t end there.  Like Beto O’Rourke, Ramaswamy made something of his interest.
