Caucus Byte: That’s Gotta be Kane

I write about the Iowa Caucuses.  Yes, I am writing after the recent Caucus took place, but here’s the thing- I am not here for insight. I am here for some fun

The reason I like the Caucuses is because it pushes politicians to be human. My argument for the Caucus is without it, maybe that interaction goes away.

But when politicians act like humans, that is where the fun begins.

Today, I am highlighting one of the last Trump rallies in Indianola, Iowa.

First, you need to know something about Glen Jacobs.

Jacobs is best known for being a wrestler named Kane.

After a series of failed gimmicks like wrestling villain dentist Isaac Yankem DDS (I Yankem, get it?), Unabomb and the Christmas Creature, Kane became a Hall of Fame wrestler from the last vestiges of an era of wacky and weird storylines that came to an end when wrestlers like the Rock, Goldberg and Stone Cold Steve Austin changed things forever.

Kane was a horror movie style monster- brother of the Undertaker, he burned down his childhood home, and the story gets weirder as the WWE went into the Attitude era of shock value with forced marriages, electrocutions and even necrophilia.

Post-WWE, Jacobs has become the mayor of Knox County, Tennessee since 2018. A very vocal Libertarian, Kane may be the most high Libertarians in the country.

And Kane was in Iowa to endorse Donald Trump.

And Trump, also a WWE Hall of Famer was there to talk up Kane

“And another man who’s a friend of mine. He’s another one I’m not going to mess around with. He’s Knox County, Tennessee, do you know Glenn Jacobs? Goes by the name, goes by the name of …. Kane. Kane. Where is Kane? Where’s the …. look at the size of this guy. Man o’ man – that’s – he’s all man. He’s all man. He’s good. How many years have you been doing that? You’ve been W, W …. Kane one of the great characters in uhm …. how many …. so how tall are you? You’re six what? 6’8 and weigh what – when you wrestle? Well that’s not bad – I’m not that far away either. That’s not good. You just ruined my day – 300 [pounds]!”

"When I see these guys, some of them like The Undertaker right? And I see him and walks around the ring lifting a 300-pound guy over his shoulders like this. It may be acting... then he throws him into the seats, it's pretty great."

Trump’s biggest Wrestling moment and arguably, the kickstart of the second act was the Billionaire vs Billionaire Hair vs Hair match against Vince McMahon in Wrestlemania 23 in 2007

Also worth noting: In 2016, the New York Daily News reported on a 2008 radio interview with WWE Creative Content Officer Paul Levesque (better known as former wrestler Triple H) in which Levesque said Trump wasn’t sure if pro wrestling (specifically the 2007 plot line where Vince McMahon was killed) real or fake.
